With, arguably, the most spectacular view in the whole of Sutherland, this exceptionally beautiful holiday house is breathtaking. It is quite impossible to convey the sheer magnificence of the view from the house, yet suffice to say that it is featured on many picture postcards and is shown here on the website. You can enjoy this stunning panorama from the comfort of this luxurious and warm holiday home every single day.
The interior, with its oak floors, light and airy rooms, huge picture window and open fire, offers a relaxing and tranquil home from home. The spacious kitchen is well appointed with a super Rangemaster cooker and all the usual facilities. The dining table seats eight, and there are further dining facilities in the magnificent sun room, which overlooks the mountains and loch. We are sure that for those unable to take their gaze away from the outside splendour, the table in the sun lounge will become the favourite place to enjoy breakfast.
The bedrooms are light and airy and all bar one enjoy the lovely view across the water. Furnishings, linen and towels are of the best quality, and the house is a haven in which to relax.
However, the pleasures of the area that await you in the surrounding land- and sea-scape are equally as spectacular as the house! The beaches of Oldshoremore, Oldshorebeg and Sandwood are fantastic - pristine, sandy bays - and swimming is possible from the first two. When the tides are right, there is good surfing to be had on Oldshoremore Beach, and Sandwood Beach is remarkable but can only be accessed on foot and is a four-mile walk: for those keen to feel true remote wilderness, this is the place to go. Offshore can be seen whales, dolphins, porpoises and seals, and the birdlife is tremendous: watching gannets from the cliffs as they plummet into the sea is a sight not to be missed.
From Tarbet you can sail to Handa Island - a remarkable nature reserve which offers the opportunity to see a wealth of bird species, including skuas, puffins, guillemots, terns and many more.
There are several challenging mountains for the enthusiast, and long rambles for those wishing to stay at the lower levels. Go to www.capeventure.co.uk to see a whole range of activities that can be arranged in this area.
There is a local shop within walking distance of the house, which is amazingly well stocked with just about every essential and more: morning papers are available from here. If you require anything special for your stay, why not give them a call and order before your arrival.
Sutherland is a magical place without a doubt, and this house and its view cannot be beaten!
