Rarely is a house of this luxurious quality, and in such a stunning location, available for holiday rental: no expense has been spared in the creation of this top-end, waterside property. The views from the house are simply breathtaking, encompassing the whole expanse of sea between the Mull of Kintyre and the Island of Arran, and over to the Ayrshire coast.
This is a coastal property in one of Scotland's most picturesque areas that benefits from excellent links to the mainland and a mild climate. Your journey becomes part of the holiday if you fly to Prestwick airport, then drive and sail your way to this secluded peninsula. Prestwick airport is just 40 minutes from the Ardrossan to Brodick ferry, from where you drive to the Loch Ranza to Skipness ferry. All in all, you could leave London at 10am and be relaxing on the terrace, enjoying the fabulous sea views, by 4pm. It isn't essential to sail, and it is a pleasurable drive around Loch Fyne and down the Kintyre peninsula, taking in the ever-changing land- and sea-scapes.
Suleskerry is a holiday home for those with a taste for quality and style in the ultimate setting. The spacious kitchen, with its Aga, Rangemaster gas cooker, granite and oak surfaces and Fired Earth tiled floor, leads into the dining room which seats twelve comfortably. This room commands panoramic views across the sea to Arran from the large sliding glass doors to the terrace. The terrace has quality furniture, making it more of an outdoor room from where you can observe sea eagles, dolphins and porpoises.
The games room and the main master bedroom are accessed from the terrace. This en suite king-size bedroom has been created specifically to benefit from its advantageous position, giving rise to views encompassing the sea, Arran, the east coast of the Mull of Kintyre and right across to the Ayrshire coast.
Antiques, fine designer fabrics and vintage wood flooring have been sourced to create an atmosphere of traditional style and charm whilst ensuring that all the facilities are absolutely up to the minute, with large power showers and bathrooms tiled with Fired Earth natural stone tiling, LCD televisions, and internet connection for those who need to remain in touch with the office.
For those who would rather forget the office altogether, the Yorkshire-stone-flagged terrace is more of an outdoor room from where the magnificent view can be best appreciated. There is a walled rose garden to the south of the house that is stocked with David Austin roses and is a lovely, sheltered place to sit and relax.
The house is situated on a very quiet road on the east side of the Mull of Kintyre and has parking for up to eight cars.
Suleskerry is a family home that is meticulously cared for and available for rental during the owners' absence.
It is possible to arrange for a resident cook for certain weeks of the year, including Christmas. Please ask for details of availability if this would be of interest. Please bear in mind that a bedroom will need to be allocated.
LHH Manager's Comment:
Suleskerry is definitely a house that is suitable for any time of year and when I visited it in January 2007, the sun was making the sea sparkle against the ever-changing backdrop views of the mountains on Arran. I could have sat in the conservatory and never moved from breakfast till supper! I can only imagine what it will be like in summer with all the doors open out to the terrace and the perfume of the roses drifting through!
